Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has named retired Army Colonel Yahaya Gambo as the new coordinator of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), the volunteer security outfit supporting the fight against insurgency in the state.

The announcement came through the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani, who explained that the move is aimed at boosting the efficiency of the CJTF, strengthening security efforts, and consolidating peace across Borno.

Col. Gambo, who hails from Kaga Local Government Area, brings a wealth of experience in safety, security, conflict resolution, and disaster management. His military career saw him serve as Chief of Staff at the Intelligence Support Command in Lagos. After retiring from the Army, he worked as Chief Security Officer at Dangote Fertilizer Limited from 2018 until his latest appointment.

Under his new role, the retired colonel will work closely with the Ministry of Information and Internal Security to ensure the CJTF remains a strong pillar in Borno’s ongoing security operations.

Governor Zulum’s appointment reflects his continued push to merge professional expertise with community-led security initiatives—ensuring that peace efforts are both strategic and sustainable.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
