Mark Zuckerberg Says AI Glasses Will Be Essential — Or You’ll Be Left Behind

Meta CEO and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has made a bold prediction about the future of technology: if you’re not using AI-powered glasses, you could find yourself at a serious disadvantage.

Speaking during Meta’s second-quarter earnings call, Zuckerberg shared his vision of a world where artificial intelligence is deeply integrated into our daily lives — and he believes smart glasses will be the key to making that happen.

“Glasses will be the ideal form factor for AI,” he said. “They can let an AI see what you see, hear what you hear, and talk to you throughout the day.”

This futuristic concept ties into what Zuckerberg calls “personal superintelligence” — an AI that works closely with individuals, helping them make decisions, stay productive, and stay connected in real time.

According to Zuckerberg, adding displays and sensors to smart glasses will allow for more advanced features, such as holographic visuals or interactive heads-up displays — features expected in Meta’s upcoming Orion AR glasses.

“In the future, not having AI glasses—or some way to interact with AI—might put you at a significant cognitive disadvantage,” he warned.

In simple terms, Zuckerberg believes AI glasses will soon do for thinking and communication what smartphones did for connectivity — and those without them might struggle to keep up.

Meta has already invested heavily in virtual and augmented reality through products like the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses and the Quest headsets. Now, Zuckerberg is doubling down on wearable AI as the next major leap.

While some might see this as part of a high-tech dream, others might see it as a reminder of the growing gap between tech adopters and the rest of society.

One thing is clear: according to Zuckerberg, AI glasses aren’t just a gadget — they’re the future.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
