ZAMFARA NPC LAUNCHES DIGITAL BIRTH, DEATH REGISTRATION SYSTEM

The National Population Commission (NPC), Zamfara State Office, has officially launched the Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System (E-CRVS), a digital platform designed to simplify the registration of births and deaths across the State.

The launch was announced during a press briefing held at the National Population Commission office in Gusau on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

Speaking at the event, the Federal Commissioner representing Zamfara State, Rt. Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, described the initiative as a major step toward improving the accuracy, efficiency, and security of civil registration data.

 He explained that the new digital system will provide reliable population statistics to support government planning, policy formulation, and sustainable development.

He further emphasized that birth and death registration are fundamental civil rights, noting that accurate records enable citizens to access essential public services, including education, healthcare, and other government programmes.

The Commission urged parents, traditional leaders, community members, and healthcare providers to ensure that every birth and death is promptly registered through the new electronic system.

 According to the Commission, comprehensive civil registration is essential for effective governance and national development.

“The introduction of the E-CRVS forms part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to modernize Nigeria’s civil registration system through digital technology, ensuring accurate and timely vital statistics for informed decision-making and national planning”, he added.
