ZAMFARA GOVT SLAMS 'FAKE LAWMAKERS' OVER ATTACK CLAIMS, SAYS ACCUSATIONS ARE POLITICALLY DRIVEN

The Zamfara State Government has dismissed recent accusations of negligence leveled against Governor Dauda Lawal by a group claiming to be a “parallel State Assembly,” calling the claims politically motivated and legally baseless.

Speaking on behalf of the governor, Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, the Senior Special Assistant on Broadcast Media and Public Relations, said the individuals behind the allegations had no legal authority, as a Zamfara State High Court had already barred them from acting as lawmakers.

“They lack the legal standing to speak for the State Assembly. The court ruling is clear,” Kaura said.

The group had accused Governor Lawal of ignoring the recent bandit attacks in Jangebe and Damri communities. But Kaura strongly refuted the claims, saying the government acted swiftly to support victims.

“The Talata Mafara LGA Chairman was asked to cancel his trip and return immediately to attend the burial of those killed. That’s not negligence. That’s empathy and action,” he said.

Kaura further revealed that the Deputy Governor, Mani Malam Mummuni, is heading an emergency response team visiting affected areas, assessing the damage, and delivering relief materials.

On security, the government reaffirmed its zero-tolerance approach to banditry.

“There is no negotiation with terrorists. Under Governor Lawal, many bandit leaders have already been neutralized through coordinated operations involving the military, local vigilantes, and hunters,” Kaura explained.

He emphasized that security and peace remain at the center of the administration’s Rescue Mission Agenda, and noted that residents are already seeing results on the ground.

Kaura urged the public to disregard the allegations from the so-called lawmakers, describing them as “disgruntled political elements.”

“Their continued actions could be seen as contempt of court. The judiciary has already ruled—they are not lawmakers and must not act as such,” he concluded.

The statement comes as Zamfara continues its fight against rising insecurity, with Governor Lawal's administration vowing to restore peace and protect all citizens.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
