Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has commissioned the remodelled J.B. Yakubu Secretariat in Gusau as part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of the creation of the state.

The commissioning was attended by former governors of the state, including Ahmad Yarima and Mahmud Shinkafi, as well as Colonel Jibril Bala Yakubu (retd.), the first military administrator of Zamfara.

Yakubu, who returned to commission the latest phase of the project, said the building had changed significantly since he first commissioned it decades ago. He urged residents and stakeholders to embrace peace and unity for the development of the state.

Lawal thanked former leaders of Zamfara for their contributions to the state and said his administration would continue to build on previous efforts.

The governor said the renovated secretariat would provide workers with better conditions and support the delivery of public services.

He also said his administration would continue investing in infrastructure as part of efforts to open up the state, attract investment and support development.

The commissioning formed part of a wider programme marking 30 years since Zamfara was created in 1996. Other anniversary activities include the commissioning of additional infrastructure and a stakeholders’ engagement.
