Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has launched the construction of a 95-kilometre road project in Tsafe Local Government Area to improve transportation, reconnect farming communities and strengthen security.

The road will connect several communities, including Yandoton Daji, Cediya, Doka, Yan Waren Daji, Hayin Alhaji Bedi, Unguwar Joji and Yankuzo to Tsafe. The project will also include five bridges.

Lawal said the project would be executed in two phases, with the first 47-kilometre section awarded to SKY Construction Company and the second 48-kilometre section awarded to Setraco Construction Company.

The governor said the road passed through predominantly farming communities and would improve the movement of agricultural goods to markets.

He added that better road access would also support the movement of security agencies and improve their response to threats in the affected areas.

Lawal said the project formed part of a wider infrastructure renewal programme aimed at reconnecting communities and addressing longstanding infrastructure gaps.

He directed the state Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to ensure proper supervision, quality control and compliance with approved engineering standards.

The governor said timely completion of the project would be important to residents and businesses in the affected communities.
