YULETIDE: FRSC BEGINS CRACKDOWN ON RECKLESS DRIVERS
Ogun State to Clamp Down on Speeding Drivers During Festive Season The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a crackdown on speeding drivers across the state, particularly during the festive season. According to the sector command's spokesperson, Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, the special operation aims to reduce the number of road crashes by 10 per cent in the state. Led by State Sector Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, the operation, which kicked off along the Sagamu-Abeokuta Road, saw the apprehension of 16 drivers for speeding using a laser radar gun. The drivers' vehicles were subsequently booked for traffic offences. Speed-limiting devices were also installed in the vehicles to prevent future speeding. The operation is part of the FRSC's corporate goal to achieve a 10 per cent reduction in road crashes in the state by 2025. According to the sector command, speeding is a major contributor to the high number of crashes in the state. Sector Commander Fasakin has urged motorists to obey traffic rules and prioritize safety on the road. He emphasized the dangers of speeding and overloading, which put both drivers and other road users at risk. Fasakin assured residents of the state that the FRSC is committed to providing a safe motoring environment. The special intervention patrol will continue throughout the Yuletide season, with the FRSC urging drivers to exercise caution and follow all traffic rules to avoid accidents. By working together, the FRSC aims to reduce the number of road crashes and create a safer environment for all road users in Ogun State.
