The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has vowed to assist in resolving the conflict between Yoruba Nation advocate, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho, and the Nigerian government.

The traditional ruler expressed readiness to push for the removal of Igboho’s name from the list of individuals declared wanted by the authorities.

Igboho was declared wanted following a raid on his Ibadan residence by the Department of State Services (DSS) in July 2021, during which weapons were reportedly found.

Having appealed to the monarch for intervention, Igboho received reassurance during a recent gathering at the Ooni’s palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The Ooni stated that he holds no grudge against Igboho despite past disagreements, affirming his support for the activist.

“I am not angry with you because I am the father of all,” the monarch said. “You are a courageous man and a source of pride to Yorubaland. You will not die young.”

He added, “We will work to ensure your name is cleared from the wanted list. Ile-Ife is the root of creation, and no one desires peace and progress for Yorubaland more than I do.”

The Ooni also expressed gratitude that Igboho remained safe throughout his legal ordeals.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
