YLSEP GRADUATES 2026 COHORT, TRAINS YOUNG LEADERS ON SUSTAINABILITY
Eko EnviroTalk has graduated the 2026 cohort of its Young Leaders for Sustainable Environment Programme (YLSEP), equipping young participants with knowledge and practical skills to promote environmental sustainability in their communities.
The second cohort, which ran from August 17 to 22, had 28 participants aged between 13 and 28 and focused on ocean protection and environmental sustainability under the theme, “Ocean Heroes, Guardians of the Blue.”
As part of the programme, participants took a boat tour of the Lagos Lagoon and visited the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research, where they gained practical exposure to marine science and environmental challenges.
The closing ceremony also featured a sustainability tour and tree-planting exercise at Gracefield Island in Lagos. Participants presented project ideas addressing issues such as plastic waste, recycling, and proper waste disposal.
Programme Manager, ’Wande Seriki, urged the graduates to apply what they had learnt in their schools and communities and use their new networks to sustain environmental initiatives.
The programme reflects growing efforts to equip young Nigerians with practical knowledge to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development.
