YAYI, ABIODUN EXPRESS CONFIDENCE AHEAD OF OGUN 2027 ELECTION
The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress held an interfaith prayer session ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, expressing confidence in the party’s chances.
Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, spoke during the gathering on Wednesday and said he believed God would grant the APC victory and pave the way for his emergence as the next governor of Ogun State.
He said the party would secure victory in the January 16, 2027 election and expressed confidence that his path to the governorship would be clear.
Adeola also suggested that the APC could secure victory without a major contest, claiming that rival politicians were struggling to organise themselves ahead of the election.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, who also spoke at the event, said the prayer session was an opportunity for APC members to seek God’s guidance and commit their political journey towards 2027 to Him.
Abiodun said the gathering was designed to put God first through prayers, songs and thanksgiving, adding that he was confident the prayers would produce positive results.
Reflecting on his political journey, the governor recalled the challenges he faced during the 2019 governorship election. He described his emergence as governor as a testimony of what he regarded as divine intervention.
Abiodun said the political circumstances at the time were difficult but expressed confidence that the same faith that helped him through those challenges would guide the state through another transition.
The First Lady of Ogun State, Bamidele Abiodun, also participated in the religious programme, reading passages from Second Chronicles, chapters 17 to 20.
Pastor J.T. Kalejaye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, in his message, said good leadership was necessary for greater progress. He urged the congregation to reject wrongdoing and seek God’s guidance.
The APC deputy governorship candidate, Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, also participated in the interfaith session by reading verses from the Holy Quran.
