YAKUBU HANDS OVER TO AGBAMUCHE AS INEC ACTING CHAIR
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has handed over leadership of the commission to May Agbamuche-Mbu, the oldest serving National Commissioner.
Yakubu announced on Tuesday during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
He stated that Agbamuche would serve as the Acting Chairman of INEC pending the appointment of a substantive chairman by the Federal Government.
Yakubu, who has led the electoral body since 2015, solicited the cooperation of INEC commissioners and directors to ensure a smooth transition and continued efficiency under Agbamuche’s leadership.
Agbamuche, a lawyer and journalist, has been part of the INEC National Commission since 2016, serving in various capacities, including overseeing legal and administrative matters within the commission.
