WORLD BANK URGES DEVELOPING NATIONS TO ACCELERATE AI ADOPTION

The World Bank has called on developing countries to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) to drive economic growth, improve public services, and boost innovation.

The global lender said embracing AI technologies could help developing economies improve productivity, expand access to essential services, and create new opportunities across sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and finance.

However, the World Bank stressed the need for countries to invest in digital infrastructure, workforce skills, and responsible AI frameworks to ensure the technology delivers inclusive benefits.

Technology experts said developing nations must address challenges such as limited connectivity, skills shortages, and regulatory gaps to maximise the opportunities presented by AI.

They added that partnerships between governments, private companies, and academic institutions will be critical in building strong AI ecosystems.

The World Bank reaffirmed its commitment to supporting countries in developing digital strategies that promote innovation, economic inclusion, and sustainable development.
