The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has announced the temporary closure of all access roads leading to and surrounding the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja ahead of the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The closure will take effect from Friday, March 27 to Saturday, March 28, 2026, as Eagle Square—located near the complex—has been designated as the venue for the convention.

As a result, civil servants working within Phases I, II, and III of the Federal Secretariat Complex, along with staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, have been instructed to work remotely on Friday, March 27.

This directive was communicated in a circular issued on Thursday to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as all Permanent Secretaries and heads of agencies and parastatals operating within the affected areas.

The circular explained that the road closures are necessary due to the proximity of Eagle Square to the Federal Secretariat Complex, which is expected to experience restricted movement during the event.

“All Ministries, Extra-Ministerial Departments, Agencies, and Offices located within the Federal Secretariat, Phases I, II & III are hereby notified of the closure of all access roads leading to and around the complex from Friday, March 27 to Saturday, March 28, 2026,” the statement read.

It further directed that all affected personnel should work from home on Friday to minimize disruption and ease traffic congestion in the area.

Signed by Dr. Abdul S. U. Garba, Permanent Secretary of the Service Welfare Office, the circular also urged all heads of agencies and Permanent Secretaries to inform their staff accordingly and ensure full compliance with the directive.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
