WOMAN FOUND DEAD NEAR OSOGBO MOSQUE, POLICE SUSPECT SUICIDE
Tragedy in Osogbo as Woman’s Body Found Near Mosque, Police Begin Investigation
A sense of shock and sadness has gripped the Ogo-Oluwa area of Osogbo, Osun State, after the body of a woman, simply identified as Halimat, was found lifeless near a mosque on Monday.
According to the Osun State Police Command, officers were alerted through a distress call and immediately rushed to the scene, where they discovered Halimat’s body at the back of the mosque.
Spokesperson of the Command, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident and revealed that early findings point to a suspected suicide.
“A handwritten note believed to be a suicide note was found at the scene,” he said. “There were no visible signs of violence or assault on the body, but a strong smell of chemicals, suspected to be Sniper, was present.”
While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, the presence of the suspected poison and note strongly suggests that Halimat may have taken her own life.
Police say a relative of the deceased has been contacted and is now cooperating with the investigation, providing background information that could help authorities determine what may have led to the tragic event.
SP Ojelabi assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing to uncover the full circumstances surrounding Halimat’s death.
