WIKE TO JONATHAN: DON’T RUN FOR PRESIDENT IN 2027

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has advised former President Goodluck Jonathan against contesting the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Wike warned that Jonathan was being misled by the same politicians who, according to him, deceived and betrayed him during the 2015 elections.

“I know Jonathan very well. He enjoys international respect and should maintain that. The same people urging him to run now are the ones who worked against him in 2015,” Wike said.

He stressed that those pushing Jonathan have no real political strength and are only trying to create confusion within the party.

Wike also cleared the air on speculations about his own presidential ambition. He stated firmly that he will not run in 2027 out of loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, who appointed him.

“I have integrity and character. The person who appointed me is there, and we are supporting him to run. How will I then turn around to say I want to contest? What would my children even think of me? I will not run for president,” Wike added.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
