WIKE SAYS HE CONTROLS RIVERS, FCT POLITICAL STRUCTURE
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he remains in control of the political structure in Rivers State and the FCT ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the statement while speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he said political influence was not dependent on occupying the office of governor.
The former Rivers State governor described himself as the “General Commander of the Political Infantry,” insisting that he remained influential in both Rivers and the FCT.
He said his return to Rivers was partly to reconnect with his political supporters and assess developments in the state as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections intensify.
Wike also said he would not remain passive while opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, seek to build support ahead of the election.
According to him, his political activities are aimed at ensuring that President Bola Tinubu receives strong support in Rivers State and the FCT during the 2027 presidential election.
The minister also pointed to his record as Rivers governor and his ongoing projects in the FCT as evidence of his ability to deliver on political and administrative responsibilities.
His comments come as political parties and their supporters intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, with alliances and campaign structures already taking shape across the country.
