WIKE MOCKS AMAECHI: “TINUBU DEFEATED YOU MERCILESSLY IN 2022, FORGET 2027”
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, over his recent claim that he could easily defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections if given the chance.
Amaechi, who is reportedly eyeing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket, boasted in an interview that he knows how to beat Tinubu at the polls. He added that the president’s weaknesses would make it “too easy” for him to win.
But Wike laughed off the remarks, reminding Amaechi of his poor outing at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in 2022, where he lost badly to Tinubu at Eagle Square.
“Amaechi knows he will not get the ticket of the ADC,” Wike said in an interview on Channels TV.
“I read that he said he knows the weakness of President Tinubu and how to defeat him, but he knew the weakness of Mr. President in 2022 when the President defeated him mercilessly in the primaries.”
Amaechi had come a distant second in that race, while Tinubu emerged with the overwhelming majority of votes.
While some political observers argue that the worsening state of the economy could give strong opponents an edge against Tinubu in 2027, Wike insists Amaechi is not the man for the job and lacks the political weight to challenge the president.
