The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has warned contractors handling infrastructure projects in Abuja that deadlines must be met, stressing that no extensions will be granted.

During an inspection tour of ongoing projects, Wike expressed dissatisfaction with delays, particularly on a road project in Wuse, insisting that it must be completed by the second week of June.

He explained that the timeline is tied to projects scheduled for inauguration during the third anniversary of Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“We agreed on delivery timelines, and I will not accept deviations,” the minister stated, emphasising strict adherence to agreed deadlines.

Despite concerns over delays in some areas, Wike commended progress on key projects such as the N16 interchange and a road and bridge project at Tunga Madaki, which links Bill Clinton Drive along the Airport Road corridor to surrounding communities.

He also revealed plans to extend the road network from the bridge area to Zuba, noting that necessary preparations, including compensation for affected residents, are already underway.

Beyond road construction, Wike highlighted ongoing investments in water supply, education, and healthcare across the FCT, including satellite towns like Bwari, Karu, and Orozo.

Addressing recent water shortages in parts of the city, the minister attributed the issue to damage caused to a major pipeline by a private developer, warning that strict action could be taken against those responsible.

Wike reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development under the Renewed Hope agenda, aimed at improving living conditions and expanding essential services across the capital territory.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
