Wike Gives Property Owners in Abuja 14 Days to Pay ₦5m Land-Use Violation Fine

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a final 14-day ultimatum to property owners in Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, and Wuse who have altered the approved use of their buildings without proper authorisation.

According to a statement released by his media aide, the affected property owners are required to pay a ₦5 million penalty and complete all necessary regularisation processes between November 11 and November 25, 2025.

The minister warned that failure to comply within the grace period would result in strict enforcement actions by the FCT Administration (FCTA).

This directive follows Wike’s earlier approval of a ₦5 million fine and other charges for properties converted without due approval. A list containing 374 affected property owners had already been published earlier in the year.

Owners who settle the fine and complete the required procedures within the two-week window will receive updated title documents reflecting the new approved land use.

However, the minister clarified that this offer does not apply to properties whose titles have already been revoked for non-development or non-payment of ground rent.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
