WIKE CHALLENGES AMAECHI OVER 24 YEARS IN PUBLIC OFFICE
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has challenged former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi to account for projects and political empowerment he attracted to Evo Kingdom and the state during his 24 years in public office.
Wike made the remarks during an interactive session with leaders and stakeholders of Evo Kingdom in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He referred to Amaechi’s previous positions as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, governor and Minister of Transportation, saying he had spent 24 years in senior public offices.
Wike questioned what Amaechi delivered to the people during those periods and challenged him to account for his record of projects and development initiatives.
The comments form part of the continuing political disagreement between the two former Rivers State leaders.
Amaechi has previously held several senior political positions, including governor of Rivers State from 2007 to 2015 and Minister of Transportation from 2015 to 2022.
Wike, who served as Rivers State governor before becoming FCT minister, continues to participate actively in political discussions in the state.
