WIKE: ADELEKE WON BECAUSE TINUBU ALLOWED A FREE AND FAIR ELECTION

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke won the governorship election because President Bola Tinubu allowed the election to be free and fair.

Wike made the comment while speaking about the political situation surrounding the Osun election.

According to him, the outcome showed that the Tinubu administration was willing to allow voters to freely choose their preferred candidate rather than interfere with the electoral process.

Adeleke, who contested under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defeated his major challenger from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.

Wike said the result should be seen as evidence that the government respected the democratic process.

His comment has also generated political reactions, particularly because Wike and the PDP have had a complicated political relationship in recent years.
