WHY I WON’T CRY OVER ALEX EKUBO’S DEATH – WILLIAMS UCHEMBA
Nollywood actor Williams Uchemba has reacted to reports surrounding the passing of fellow actor Alex Ekubo, describing it not as a final goodbye but as a “transition” into eternity.
In a heartfelt post shared on his Instagram page, Uchemba expressed a deeply spiritual reflection on life and death, saying he believes Ekubo belonged to God and has now returned to his maker.
According to him, the most meaningful stage of a person’s life is often the final years, and he expressed gratitude that the late actor spent his later moments in a closer walk with God.
He wrote that he finds comfort in the belief that they will meet again someday, adding a lighthearted message in which he asked Ekubo to greet his late mother in heaven.
Despite the emotional weight of the message, Uchemba maintained a calm and hopeful tone, saying he would not mourn in despair because his friend had “escaped the troubles of the world.”
In his words, he reflected on faith, eternity, and friendship, blending grief with humour and spiritual reassurance as he paid tribute to the late actor.
He added: “This is not the end brother because we don’t really die, we just transition… Alex belongs to Jesus and Jesus has taken his baby… The most important time of a man’s life is his last few years on earth and I am happy you spent yours more in the presence of your maker. Till we meet again brother.”
Uchemba also included a playful note, asking Ekubo to greet his late mother and joking about their reunion in heaven, while referencing shared cultural expressions and memories.
He concluded his message by saying he would not cry, describing Ekubo’s passing as a release from the struggles of the world, before signing off with a final farewell.
The post has since drawn reactions from fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry, with many expressing condolences and reflecting on Ekubo’s impact on Nollywood.
