WHY ATIKU LEFT PDP – FORMER AIDE REVEALS
Phrank Shuaibu, former Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy to ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has opened up on why Atiku resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking during an appearance on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, Shuaibu said Atiku left because the PDP no longer has the strength or relevance to hold the ruling government accountable.
He explained that the party had lost its voice, favour with the people, and vitality to function as a strong opposition, which ultimately pushed Atiku to quit.
“Atiku felt that the PDP was no longer the vehicle for the kind of political change and leadership Nigeria needs right now,” Shuaibu said.
This comes a day after Atiku officially dumped the PDP, citing the party’s current direction and internal challenges as his reason.
Atiku’s departure marks a major shake-up in Nigeria’s political landscape, especially as preparations begin for the next election cycle.
