WES BROWN: MESSI AND RONALDO ARE IN A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN – COULD THEY PLAY TOGETHER?

Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has weighed in on one of football’s most debated questions: could Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi ever play on the same team?

While Messi dazzles fans at Inter Miami in Major League Soccer and Ronaldo stars for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, the two legends have never shared a dressing room, only facing each other as opponents.

Having played alongside Ronaldo at Manchester United, Brown spoke to Goal about the possibility. He expressed his admiration for both players’ longevity and exceptional talent.

“I would love to see that,” Brown said. “We talk about strikers like Lewandowski, Ibrahimovic, Drogba, Rooney – these two are completely different. You can’t even put them in the same category. They just keep going with their goals, assists, and achievements.”

Brown highlighted how Messi and Ronaldo stand apart from everyone else in football history. “No one else can be in this competition. It’s like, ‘you pick me, I pick you, but you lot are not good enough to be in our league, so it’s me against him.’ That’s brilliant,” he added.

The two superstars have faced off 36 times for club and country, with Messi winning 16 of those encounters and Ronaldo 11. Fans continue to dream of a day when these icons could share the pitch not as rivals, but as teammates.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
