Wema Bank has trained more than 500 business owners, exporters, commodity aggregators, trade associations and regulatory professionals through the second edition of its Export Trade Academy in Lagos.

The two-day programme was designed to equip participants with knowledge and practical skills for accessing international markets and expanding their businesses through export trade.

The academy focused on areas including export regulations, market access, trade documentation, financing and strategies for helping Nigerian businesses compete internationally.

Wema Bank said the initiative formed part of its efforts to support small and medium-sized enterprises and strengthen their participation in global trade.

The bank also highlighted the importance of helping businesses understand the requirements for exporting Nigerian products and accessing opportunities in international markets.

Participants included business owners and exporters from different sectors, alongside commodity aggregators, trade associations and regulatory stakeholders.

The programme provided participants with practical resources and information intended to help them navigate challenges associated with international trade.

Wema Bank said strengthening the capacity of local businesses could contribute to increased exports, business growth and Nigeria’s participation in global value chains.

The Export Trade Academy is part of the bank’s broader initiatives to support Nigerian businesses with financial and non-financial services aimed at improving competitiveness.
