‘WE WILL DELIVER KEBBI FOR TINUBU IN 2027’ — GOVERNOR IDRIS
Kebbi State Governor Niger Abubakar Idris has pledged that his administration will “secure Kebbi State for President Bola Tinubu” ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing confidence in the ruling party’s performance and grassroots support across the state.
Governor Idris made the declaration on Sunday during a political rally held in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, where thousands of supporters gathered to reaffirm their commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the next presidential contest.
Confidence in APC’s Leadership
In his remarks, the governor said his administration will mobilize support for President Tinubu’s re‑election bid, citing ongoing federal projects and interventions within Kebbi State that he says have benefited local communities.
“We will secure Kebbi for Tinubu in 2027,” Governor Idris told cheering supporters. “Our people know the value of good leadership, and we will not hesitate to stand with a president who has delivered dividends of democracy to our people.”
The governor also highlighted infrastructure projects, agricultural investments, and youth employment initiatives he says are transforming life in the state and strengthening the APC’s reach at the grassroots level.
Reactions From Party Leaders
Leaders of the APC in Kebbi State backed Governor Idris’s statement, describing the governor as a unifying figure whose leadership has encouraged party supporters to coalesce around the President’s agenda.
Alhaji Saidu Baraden, APC State Chairman, said the party is confident of “replicating the support shown in previous elections” during the 2027 polls.
“We have been working diligently to build bridges across every local government area, and we believe the people of Kebbi will overwhelmingly endorse President Tinubu’s leadership in 2027,” Baraden said.
Opposition’s Perspective
However, opposition parties in the state offered a contrasting view. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) described Governor Idris’s pledge as “political posturing” and urged voters to focus on issues such as security, unemployment, and quality public service delivery.
A PDP spokesperson noted that electoral support should be earned through performance rather than assumed through political declarations.
“We respect the right of any politician to campaign, but the people of Kebbi deserve leaders who address their daily challenges,” the spokesperson said.
Looking Ahead
As the 2027 general elections draw nearer, political activities are expected to intensify across Kebbi and other states. Analysts say early endorsements and campaign promises like Governor Idris’s highlight the strategic importance of regional strength in national politics.
For now, Governor Idris and APC loyalists are maintaining optimism that Kebbi will remain a stronghold for the ruling party and a reliable contributor to its presidential ambitions.
