As the Super Falcons prepare to face Morocco in the grand finale of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has sent them a heartfelt message of encouragement.

The all-important match is set to take place today (Saturday) at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, with the Nigerian team just 90 minutes away from claiming their 10th WAFCON title — the most by any team on the continent.

In a video shared on the Super Falcons’ official X (formerly Twitter) account, the First Lady congratulated the team on reaching the final and praised their strong performances throughout the tournament.

“My beautiful and lovely Super Falcons, I congratulate you and the officials for qualifying for the final,” she said.
“Your team spirit, determination, and professionalism have been inspiring. You are role models for young girls in Nigeria and across Africa.”

Mrs. Tinubu offered prayers and encouragement, urging the players to give their best and bring home the trophy.

“As you step out for the final match, I pray God crowns your efforts with resounding victory. Make us proud, our worthy ambassadors and champions,” she added.

The Super Falcons have been in incredible form throughout the competition. They beat Tunisia and Botswana in their first two group games, played a draw with Algeria, then crushed Zambia 5-0 in the quarter-finals. In the semi-final, they edged out South Africa’s Banyana Banyana 2-1.

So far, the team has scored 11 goals and conceded just one, showing dominance on both ends of the pitch.

With the full support of millions of Nigerians — including the First Lady — the Super Falcons head into the final with high spirits and one goal: to make history once again.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
