WAFCON 2024: AJIBADE NAMED WOMAN OF THE MATCH IN SUPER FALCONS’ VICTORY OVER BOTSWANA
Rasheedat Ajibade was named Woman of the Match after Nigeria secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Botswana at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday night.
The Super Falcons clinched the victory in a tightly contested match, with substitute Chiwendu Ihezuo scoring the decisive goal late in the game. Ihezuo found the net after connecting with a pinpoint cross from fellow substitute Esther Okoronkwo.
Ajibade, who began the match on the right flank of Nigeria’s attack, was moved into midfield in the second half. The 25-year-old delivered a commanding performance and played the full 90 minutes.
In Nigeria’s opening match against Algeria, Esther Okoronkwo had previously received the Woman of the Match award.
The Super Falcons are set to face Algeria again in their next fixture, scheduled for Sunday at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
