Former Adamawa State House of Assembly member, Wafari Theman, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election on the platform of the Young Progressives Party.

Theman unveiled a 17-point agenda in Yola, saying his decision to join the race was driven by a desire to introduce technology and skills-based governance to accelerate development in the state.

He identified insecurity as one of Adamawa’s major challenges and proposed the establishment of a Security Trust Fund within his first 100 days in office if elected.

The former lawmaker said his security plan would involve traditional rulers, civil society organisations, religious groups, youths and women. He also said rural communities would receive greater attention under his proposed administration.

On education, Theman promised to prioritise skills acquisition while ensuring that children from poor families have access to basic education.

He also identified healthcare as another priority, saying his administration would address shortages in medical equipment, drugs and other essential services.

The YPP candidate said his 17-point manifesto was designed as a practical and evidence-based plan for the state’s development.

He also promised to focus on other sectors of the economy and public services as part of his proposed agenda for Adamawa if elected governor in 2027.
