VETERAN LAWMAKER OLUWOLE OKE QUITS PDP, SIGNALS POLITICAL SHIFT
Veteran lawmaker Hon. Oluwole Oke has formally parted ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), bringing an end to his long-standing affiliation with the party he has represented for over two decades.
Oke, who currently serves as the representative for the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, confirmed his resignation in a phone conversation on Wednesday.
“I have resigned from the PDP,” he stated.
His resignation was also detailed in a letter dated April 16, 2025, addressed to the PDP chairman in Ward 7, Obokun Local Government Area. In the letter, Oke explained that the decision came after thorough consultations with family members, close associates, and political supporters.
Although he did not disclose his next political destination, Oke encouraged his loyalists to leave the PDP and await further directions regarding his future plans.
“I urge my supporters to leave the PDP as well and stay tuned for what comes next,” he said.
As a six-term legislator with substantial political influence in Osun State, Oke’s departure is expected to make waves, particularly as political alignments shift in the buildup to the 2027 general elections.
At the time of this report, the PDP has yet to issue an official response to his resignation.
