VERYDARKMAN SLAMS LAWYER DEJI ADEYANJU OVER CAUTION AGAINST RISK
Popular Nigerian activist and social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has called out his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, over a recent warning to him about taking unnecessary risks.
Adeyanju had taken to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express concern for his client’s safety, writing:
“I call VDM every time to be careful and stop taking unnecessary risks but he doesn’t listen most of the time. If anything happens to you today, everyone has moved on by tomorrow. We only overrate ourselves, Nigerians don’t rate anybody.”
The statement sparked online buzz, with many speculating that there may be tension between the outspoken critic and his legal representative.
In a strongly worded Instagram video response, VeryDarkMan said he was deeply disappointed by his lawyer’s remarks. He described the warning as cowardly and accused Adeyanju of pushing a narrative often used to silence fearless citizens.
“I’m really disappointed in you for this post, especially because you are a comrade,” he said. “If it was just an ordinary Nigerian, I’d assume they don’t know better.”
He added, “Yes, Nigerians may move on if anything happens to me. But they also moved on after the death of Jesus Christ, the Pope, and former President Buhari. Nobody is above death or indispensable.”
VeryDarkMan insisted that the fear of death or being forgotten should not stop people from standing up for what’s right. He argued that even people who avoid risks can still fall victim to violence or injustice, citing recent attacks in states like Benue, Taraba, and Borno.
“This is the kind of talk politicians put out to scare people into silence. Anyone who repeats it is a coward,” he said.
The outspoken activist, known for his bold and controversial takes on national issues, made it clear that he has no plans to back down, regardless of the risks.
More reactions are expected as the rift between the popular activist and his lawyer continues to stir public debate.
