“VERY AMATEURISH” — ADAMU GARBA FAULTS NIGERIAN GOVT’S RESPONSE TO DONALD TRUMP’S THREAT
Former APC presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba, has taken a swipe at the Federal Government’s response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments about alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria and his threat of possible military action.
Speaking on Trust TV’s Daily Politics on Wednesday, Garba described the government’s handling of the situation as “very amateurish”, accusing it of poor coordination and lack of coherent communication.
“Actually, to me, it’s very amateurish because it looks like there is a media diplomacy,” Garba said.
“You see several media aides issuing different frontline, center kinds of statements. You can’t even coherently articulate the real position of this government regarding this issue.”
He noted that the administration’s response appeared disorganized, with different government officials making conflicting remarks, which he argued sends a confusing message to the international community.
“You see this one talking this way, you see that one talking this way. You see less of even the Foreign Ministry acting. So what is the problem?” he queried.
Garba stressed that issues of international diplomacy should not be handled through political spokespersons but rather through formal diplomatic channels such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He further urged the government to present a unified and professional position to address Trump’s statements, which have generated widespread debate within and outside Nigeria.
