Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Doris Uzoka-Anite, is set to lead discussions on reforms needed to improve sovereign credit ratings across Africa.

Uzoka-Anite will deliver the keynote address at DataPro Limited’s sixth International Rating Webinar scheduled for October 8, 2026.

The minister is expected to speak on the theme, “Sovereign Credit Rating: Africa’s Roadmap to Investment-Grade Status,” with particular attention to Nigeria’s target of achieving an investment-grade rating by 2030.

Her presentation will examine issues including economic planning, fiscal management, public-sector reforms, investment mobilisation and measures to strengthen macroeconomic resilience.

The discussion is expected to focus on how African countries can improve their credit profiles and strengthen investor confidence.

Sovereign credit ratings are used by investors and financial institutions to assess the creditworthiness and perceived risk of lending to governments.

Uzoka-Anite is also expected to address reforms that could support Nigeria’s efforts to attract investment and improve the country’s fiscal position.

DataPro said the webinar would bring together stakeholders to examine the challenges affecting African sovereign ratings and possible policy responses.

The event will form part of broader discussions on strengthening economic management and improving the conditions for investment across the continent.
