The Senior Pastor of The Second Coming of Christ Ministry, Pastor Adewale Giwa, has said that God is using U.S. President Donald Trump to reset the brains of Nigeria’s political leaders, following Trump’s recent threat of possible military action against Nigeria over alleged killings of Christians.

Speaking in a statement issued on Wednesday, Pastor Giwa declared that only those benefiting from terrorism would oppose Trump’s warning to Nigeria’s government.

“Nigerians are happy to welcome the United States’ military action following the persistent security challenges facing the country. I am sure that God wants to use President Donald Trump to reset the brains of the nation’s political leaders,” he said.

The cleric lamented the worsening insecurity and corruption in the country, saying citizens had been crying out for help for years without any meaningful intervention.

“Only those that are benefitting from terrorism will not support President Trump’s decision to combat the Islamic terrorists that continue to ravage Nigeria.
We must not pretend that everything is well in this country — nothing functions effectively except corruption and lawlessness,” he added.

Pastor Giwa also urged Trump not to yield to what he described as “a campaign of calumny” by individuals benefitting from Nigeria’s instability.

He went on to criticize Nigeria’s founding leaders, accusing them of seeking independence from British rule for selfish reasons rather than genuine liberation.

“Sometimes, I sit down to think that those who fought for Nigeria’s independence from British rule are to be blamed. They didn’t do it for the well-being of Nigerians but hurriedly sought independence for selfish gains. Nigeria was a great nation under British rule,” Giwa said.

He concluded by lamenting the hardship faced by ordinary Nigerians, saying the government continues to enjoy luxury at the expense of the masses.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
