U.S. COULD MAKE $50 BILLION A MONTH FROM NEW TARIFFS, SAYS COMMERCE CHIEF
The U.S. government may soon earn up to $50 billion every month from new tariffs placed on imported goods, according to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
Speaking in an interview, Lutnick said the country is already seeing a big jump in tariff revenue—with nearly $30 billion collected last month alone, and $100 billion since April.
He explained that more money will come in as tariffs expand to cover tech products, medicine, and semiconductors.
Lutnick also mentioned that if this trend continues, total revenue could eventually reach $1 trillion.
These tariffs are part of the government's push to protect U.S. industries and boost the economy. But some experts warn they could also lead to higher prices for everyday items.
