US CONGRATULATES NIGERIANS, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO STRONGER TIES

The United States Government has congratulated Nigeria on its 66th Independence Anniversary and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening relations between both countries.

In a statement issued by the US Department of State on Thursday, the American government said it valued its relationship with Nigeria and appreciated the substantive dialogue between both countries over the past year.

The US described Nigeria as Africa’s largest democracy and one of the continent’s largest economies, noting that the country plays an important role in promoting regional stability and economic growth.

It said the two countries shared common priorities, including democratic principles, religious freedom, commercial relations, peace and security.

The US Government also expressed its readiness to continue working with Nigeria towards these shared goals.

It wished Nigeria and its citizens continued peace, unity, prosperity and hope as the country marks its 66th year of independence.
