US ANNOUNCES $18M REWARD FOR INFORMATION ON TWO ISIS-K LEADERS

The United States government has offered a combined reward of $18 million for information that could lead to the identification or capture of two senior leaders of the Islamic State-Khorasan (ISIS-K), as Washington intensifies efforts against the terrorist group.

The reward targets Sanaullah Ghafari, also known as Shahab al-Muhajir, who leads ISIS-K, and Obaidullah, who is identified as a key financial figure within the group. Reports indicate that the United States has placed an $8 million reward on Ghafari and $10 million on Obaidullah.

Ghafari has been associated with ISIS-K's leadership since 2020 and has been a major target of international counterterrorism efforts. The group has carried out attacks and maintained operations across parts of the region.

The US reward programme is aimed at encouraging individuals with useful information about the two men to come forward and assist authorities in locating them and disrupting the organisation's activities.

The move forms part of Washington's wider counterterrorism strategy, particularly its efforts to weaken ISIS-K's leadership, financial networks and operational capabilities.
