The University of Ghana has directed undergraduate students whose Cumulative Grade Point Average fell below 1.00 at the end of the 2025/2026 academic year to withdraw from their programmes.

The university’s Academic Affairs Directorate announced the directive in a notice issued on Thursday, October 22.

According to the notice, students must achieve a CGPA of at least 1.00 and meet their school or department’s academic requirements before progressing to the next level.

The university explained that its regulations do not provide for academic probation in these circumstances. The withdrawal requirement applies once all grades for a student’s registered courses have been released.

Affected students have been asked to confirm their results through the university’s Management Information System before starting the withdrawal process.

They are then required to access the Student and Staff Portal using their student credentials and select the “Withdrawal Request” option. For certain programmes, the relevant school or department will handle the process on students’ behalf.

Students who need clarification about their academic standing or the procedure have been advised to contact their College Academic Office.

The university also said its Careers and Counselling Directorate is available to provide guidance and support to those affected.
