United Nigeria Airlines has formally accepted the public apologies of social media personalities Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan) and Freedom Atsepoyi (Mr Jollof) following their altercation during boarding at Asaba International Airport.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, November 17, 2025, as passengers prepared to board Flight UN0523 to Lagos, sparked panic and drew national attention, raising concerns about aviation safety and passenger behaviour in Nigeria.

In a statement released on Thursday, the airline confirmed that it had reviewed and accepted the apologies posted by the two personalities on social media.

“United Nigeria Airlines acknowledges and accepts the public apologies issued by VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof following the onboard altercation during the boarding of Flight UN0523 from Asaba to Lagos,” the statement read.

The airline noted that both parties have committed to refraining from conduct that could compromise aviation safety, order, or decorum onboard any airline in the future.

United Nigeria Airlines further emphasized its dedication to maintaining a safe, respectful, and orderly travel environment, and pledged to continue collaborating with the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and relevant authorities to address unruly passenger behaviour nationwide.

Passengers and aviation observers have welcomed the move, highlighting the importance of accountability and safe travel conduct in Nigerian airspace.
