UNIOSUN POSTGRADUATE COLLEGE GETS NEW ACTING PROVOST
The Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has appointed Professor Alamu Oguntola of the Department of Mechanical Engineering as the Acting Provost of its Postgraduate College, as part of efforts to strengthen academic leadership and advance postgraduate education in the institution.
The appointment was approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Clement Adebooye, and took effect from Monday, January 5, 2026.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, who described the appointment as a strategic move aimed at deepening academic excellence, research output, and effective administration within the postgraduate college.
According to the statement, Professor Oguntola brings over 26 years of experience in teaching, research, and university administration, positioning him well to provide purposeful leadership for the college. His extensive background in academic mentoring, research supervision and institutional development is expected to contribute significantly to the growth and global competitiveness of UNIOSUN’s postgraduate programmes.
“The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Clement Adebooye, congratulated Professor Alamu, on his appointment, highlighting his exceptional academic credentials, administrative experience, and global research collaborations as assets that will enhance the strategic growth and academic reputation of UNIOSUN’s Postgraduate College,” the statement read.
Professor Adebooye noted that the appointment aligns with the university’s broader vision of strengthening postgraduate studies through innovation, quality assurance, and research-driven scholarship. He expressed confidence that the new acting provost would build on existing achievements while introducing fresh ideas to improve postgraduate training and supervision.
The statement further explained that Professor Oguntola’s leadership is expected to consolidate the college’s commitment to rigorous research, high academic standards, and the production of skilled graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to national development and global knowledge advancement.
UNIOSUN also extended its congratulations to Professor Oguntola Jelil Alamu, wishing him a successful tenure as Acting Provost and expressing optimism that his stewardship would further enhance the standing of the Postgraduate College within Nigeria’s higher education landscape and beyond.
