A lecturer at the University of Ilorin has attributed the recent wave of military coups in West Africa to governance failures across the region.
He made the assertion during an academic discussion on political stability and democratic consolidation.
According to him, weak institutions, corruption, and poor leadership have contributed to growing public dissatisfaction in several countries.
The don urged African governments to strengthen democratic institutions and improve accountability to prevent further instability.
He also called for regional cooperation in promoting good governance and sustaining democracy.
