UMAHI ORDERS TINUBU’S PICTURES ON NIGER BRIDGE
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has directed that President Bola Tinubu’s pictures be displayed on the First Niger Bridge linking Anambra and Delta states.
Umahi gave the directive during an inspection of the ongoing rehabilitation of the bridge in Anambra State. He said the bridge should be beautified with the President’s pictures in recognition of the Federal Government’s intervention in the rehabilitation project.
The minister also ordered the removal of illegal advertisements on the bridge, saying advertisers must obtain approval from the Ministry of Works.
He further directed the installation of additional solar lights and the completion of closed-circuit television cameras on the bridge.
Umahi said a committee had also been established to assess the condition of the bridge above and below the water level.
The First Niger Bridge is undergoing rehabilitation after some of its structural components were vandalised. The minister said the bridge would only reopen fully after the necessary work had been completed to ensure its safety.
