Minister of Works, David Umahi, has inaugurated members of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council’s infrastructure, mobilisation and sensitisation team ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The team was inaugurated at its first meeting in Abuja on Thursday, with Umahi serving as Deputy Director-General for Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation.

Umahi said the team would identify, document and publicise infrastructure projects being carried out by the Federal Government across the country.

He explained that the exercise would cover projects handled by the Federal Ministry of Works and other ministries, departments and agencies to provide a comprehensive account of infrastructure development across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

The minister urged the team’s zonal coordinators, including the Senior Special Assistants to the President on Community Engagement, to work together in gathering accurate information about projects in their respective areas.

He said the initiative would improve coordination and public awareness of infrastructure investments under President Bola Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Umahi added that existing publicity efforts by the Ministry of Works would continue, while the new office would provide a wider framework for communicating infrastructure projects undertaken by other government agencies.

He described infrastructure development as essential to economic growth, noting that roads and other public projects connect communities, create opportunities and support businesses.

The minister also highlighted the Federal Government’s use of continuous reinforced concrete pavement technology in road construction. He said the approach could reduce dependence on imported bitumen, encourage the use of local resources and expertise, and support the delivery of more durable roads.

Umahi urged members of the team to ensure that information about government infrastructure projects was accurately documented and effectively communicated to Nigerians.
