UEL: ‘HE KILLS IT DEAD’ – JAMES MCFADDEN PRAISES IHEANACHO’S SUBLIME FINISH FOR CELTIC
Former Everton forward James McFadden has singled out Kelechi Iheanacho for praise following his goal in Celtic’s 1-1 Europa League draw against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday night.
Iheanacho, who joined Celtic from Middlesbrough as a free agent in the summer, came off the bench in the second half to break the deadlock at the Rajko Mitic Stadium.
The Nigeria international controlled a pass from Benjamin Nygren with his first touch before calmly slotting the ball into the far corner — a moment that left McFadden impressed.
Speaking on BBC Sportsound, McFadden described the strike as a masterclass in control and composure:
“First of all, what a first touch it is — he kills it dead and then reverses it into the far corner. The first touch makes it, it’s incredible. A really composed finish, too.”
McFadden also highlighted Celtic’s build-up play, noting the roles of Yang and Donovan in creating the space for Iheanacho’s decisive move.
Since arriving in Scotland, the 28-year-old forward has made a bright start, registering 2 goals and 1 assist in just 3 appearances for the Scottish champions.
