Galatasaray head coach, Okan Buruk, has revealed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is still struggling with fitness after his recent injury setback.

Osimhen picked up the knock while on international duty with the Super Eagles two weeks ago. He missed Galatasaray’s Turkish Super Lig clash against Eyupspor last weekend, with hopes that he could recover in time for their UEFA Champions League tie against Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, the 26-year-old was left out of the club’s 23-man squad for Wednesday’s trip to Germany.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Buruk explained that Osimhen is not yet ready for action despite attempting to train in recent days.

“As you know, Osimhen was injured. We couldn’t play him in the league match, but we had hopes of at least making it to this match,” Buruk said.

“The key here was whether he could play with his net. He tried in training over the last two days, but the feedback we received from him was that he wasn’t fit to play at the moment.”

Fans will now be waiting to see if the Super Eagles striker can recover in time for Galatasaray’s upcoming fixtures as they continue their push both in Europe and domestically.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
