Victor Osimhen has described Galatasaray’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League as a “great feat” for the Turkish giants.

The Super Lig champions edged past Arne Slot’s men at the RAMS Park on Tuesday night, thanks to Osimhen’s coolly taken penalty in the 16th minute. The goal not only sealed three crucial points for Galatasaray but also etched the Nigerian striker’s name into the history books.

The strike makes Osimhen the highest-scoring Nigerian player in Champions League history, and it was also his first-ever goal in the competition for Galatasaray. His outstanding performance earned him the Man of the Match award on the night.

Speaking after the game, the 25-year-old was quick to praise his teammates and the club’s supporters.

“Frankly, I want to congratulate the team first,” Osimhen told the club’s official website. “It was a very tough opponent for us, and many people, except for the fans here, didn’t really believe we would win. We managed to pull together as a team.”

The result strengthens Galatasaray’s position in their Champions League group and further highlights Osimhen’s growing influence at the club since his summer move.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
