UCL: OSIMHEN ENTERS RECORD BOOKS WITH GOAL AGAINST LIVERPOOL
Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen etched his name into history on Tuesday after netting the decisive goal in his team’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.
The Nigerian forward converted a first-half penalty at Rams Park, handing Galatasaray all three points against Arne Slot’s men.
With the strike, Osimhen became the first Nigerian player to hit double digits in Champions League goals.
Prior to the game, he was tied on nine goals with former Inter Milan star Obafemi Martins. His latest effort lifted him to 10 goals, making him Nigeria’s all-time leading scorer in the competition.
The 26-year-old now stands ahead of compatriots Victor Ikpeba (7 goals), Ahmed Musa (6), Nwankwo Kanu (5), Yakubu Aiyegbeni (5), Ademola Lookman (5), and Samuel Chukwueze (4).
Osimhen’s 10 goals have come across three clubs — Lille (2), Napoli (7), and Galatasaray (1) — in 18 Champions League appearances.
