UCL: HAALAND MAKES HISTORY AFTER MAN CITY’S WIN OVER DORTMUND
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland made history on Wednesday night following his team’s 4-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League at the Etihad Stadium.
Goals from Haaland, Phil Foden (2), and Rayan Cherki sealed an emphatic win for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Haaland’s strike against his former club marked his 27th goal of the 2025/26 season in just 17 appearances across all competitions for both club and country.
It was also the Norwegian star’s fifth goal of the Champions League campaign, putting him just one behind Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen, who currently tops the scoring chart with six goals.
Beyond that, Haaland’s goal saw him etch his name into the record books once again — becoming the first player in Champions League history to score in five consecutive matches for three different clubs:
Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, and Manchester City.
Reacting after the match, City winger Jeremy Doku praised Haaland’s impact and consistency.
“In terms of numbers, Erling is unbelievable,” Doku told TNT Sports.
“Even tonight he scored one goal, but he’s so much more than just goals and assists. He provides that for us – he’s so important for us.”
Haaland’s latest record further cements his reputation as one of modern football’s most prolific strikers, continuing his remarkable run of form in Europe’s top competition.
