UCL: GYOKERES TO THIERRY HENRY — “THERE ARE A LOT OF GOALS IN THIS SHIRT” AFTER ARSENAL’S 4-0 WIN OVER ATLETICO
Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres has expressed his pride in wearing the club’s legendary No.14 shirt after scoring twice in the Gunners’ 4-0 Champions League win over Atlético Madrid on Tuesday night.
Speaking to Thierry Henry on CBS Sports after the game, Gyokeres said it was an honour to wear the same shirt number made famous by the Arsenal legend.
“It feels great, to be honest. There’s a lot of goals in this shirt. It feels amazing,” the Swedish forward told Henry after ending his nine-game goal drought for club and country.
Gyokeres added, “There weren’t many shirt numbers available, but when 14 was available, it was a big honour. We want to win trophies, that’s our desire, and of course, I want to contribute and score goals.”
The Emirates Stadium erupted in the second half as Arsenal ran riot after a goalless first 45 minutes. Gabriel Magalhães opened the scoring in the 57th minute, before Gabriel Martinelli doubled the lead. Gyokeres then sealed the emphatic win with two quick goals, marking a memorable night for Mikel Arteta’s men.
The result strengthens Arsenal’s position in the group and gives fans renewed belief in the club’s Champions League ambitions.
