UCL: GALATASARAY COACH EXPLAINS WHY OSIMHEN WAS SUBBED AGAINST LIVERPOOL
Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk has cleared the air on Victor Osimhen’s substitution during their Champions League clash with Liverpool.
The Nigerian striker was the match-winner on the night, calmly converting a penalty in the 16th minute to hand the Yellow and Reds a 1-0 victory over the Premier League giants. However, fans grew concerned when Osimhen was replaced by Mauro Icardi with 19 minutes left on the clock.
Osimhen had only just returned from an ankle injury that kept him out earlier this month, raising fears that his exit might be another setback. But Buruk reassured supporters that the decision was precautionary.
“Osimhen was feeling tired and had a cramp in his foot, but we don’t think it’s anything serious,” Buruk told the club’s official website. “There’s no negative information coming in at this time.”
With his return already boosting Galatasaray’s attack, Buruk and fans alike will be hopeful that Osimhen’s latest scare is nothing more than fatigue as the Turkish champions continue their European campaign.
